D.O.A . lived to fool around and it was on the theatre which they thrived . Usually review Joey Keithley’s journal, I, Shithead there’s no extensive contention of song-writing or even recording – it’s radically one prolonged debate diary( and a must-read for fans) . So, usually prior to their usually genuine break-up D.O.A . available the unavoidable live manuscript . ( It was the strange incarnation’s last days, generally their gig as Drunks On Acoustics, which desirous punk rock’s many poignant grant to novel, Micheal Turner’s novel, Hardcore Logo . The book, in spin, was the basement for a really good( if not indeed good) movie by Bruce McDonald . Joey was flattering irritable about the book in an talk during filming, he had a right to be; the book is to D.O.A . what This is Spinal Tap was to Status Quo but some-more specific and some-more dour than droll . The performances on this 1990 live manuscript, Talk – Action = Zero, have been plain, nonetheless it’s not the beast which the battle-hardened, Dave Gregg-powered chronicle of the rope would have cut a couple of years progressing . Fortunately, we still get to listen to the rope violation free of the prolongation excesses which injured a little of their after work . Here you get a parsimonious, rapid run-through of their catalogue with an importance on The Early Stuff( “The Prisoner”, “Liar for Hire “2+ 2″ etc .) . To keep things engaging there’s a sadness chronicle of “Fuck You”( or at slightest it starts which approach), a little roughed-up versions of Let’s Wreck the Party element( the pretension lane loses most of the imbecility here) and dual unreleased songs( the none-too-inspiring “Do or Die” and “Fuck Which Shit”) . Download D.O.A . – Talk – Action = Zero CD( Image borrowed from the slightly-inactive but still smashing blog, Shpadoinkle) P.S . As the run celebrating the Canadian-as-fuck D.O.A winds down, I’d usually similar to to instruct you all a happy Canada Day( yup the inhabitant day is 3 days prior to the Americans .) D.O.A. – Murder

June 30th, 2009 admin No comments

( Thanks to musicgraphik for the picture) With the depart of lead-guitarist Dave Gregg, who kinda-almost-sorta played Mick Jones to Joey Shithead’s Joe Strummer, in 1988, something good about D.O.A was lost perpetually . However, any rope led by Joey Shithead is D.O.A . To be satisfactory, 1990’s Murder, their initial manuscript with brand new guitarist Chris “Humper” Prohom, has startling strength, generally deliberation the lifeless tipple most alternative survivors of the hardcore epoch were producing by which time . The video for the electrifying opening lane, “We Know What You Want” is, all budgetary stipulations in reserve, utterly glorious . It crosses Three Stooges slapstick with a David Mamet-styled joke of the bottom-feeders of capitalism . ( Take special note of the mugging of wrestling fable Gene Kiniski, uninformed off his coming with Joey and Jello Biafra in the movie, Terminal City Ricochet) . The albums additionally boasts the finger-pointin’, shout-that-chorus rocker, “The Agony and the Ecstasy” and the harmonica-driven “Concrete Beach” . The creeping tired, however, is tough to omit . Out of thirteen marks on the manuscript dual( “Where Evil Grows, “Midnight Special”), have been covers, dual have been re-recordings of old marks( “Waiting for You”, “The Warrior Lives Again”) an additional lane( “No Productivity”) dates behind to Brian Goble’s old rope, The Subhumans and eventually “Concrete Beach” is a strain they’d been personification live given at slightest 1985 . Something Better Change, in truth . Download D.O.A . – Murder L.P .
